MWF Seeking BFF Author Shares 3 Tips for Building Your Blog Audience

on April 4, 2012

Rachel Bertsche, author of MWF Seeking BFF: My Yearlong Search for a New Best Friend, posted some excellent tips for new bloggers.  I, being a new blogger, wanted to keep the advice for myself as well as share it with others, so I’ve posted the link below:

Bestselling Author Shares 3 Tips for Building Your Blog Audience.

There are 490 replies to her post, but the post is closed to further comments.  I am therefore posting the comments I would have posted – here.

The advice from Rachel that I’m working on as of this moment is to read and comment on other blogger’s blogs.  This actually kind of reminded me of many homework assignments where we are supposed to post a response to a question that a teacher posted on our WebCT/Blackboard/whatever you call the online forum for courses.

The key for a good grade was to post MEANINGFUL responses, not just regurgitate the question and a simplistic answer.

Blogging is a conversation.  It’s a conversation I would have with my closest friends, except I don’t really know any of you yet.  It may feel a little one sided at times, but it’s easy to recognize that any human being would want and DESERVES a meaningful response to a question.  People have taken the time to write intelligent, involved, inspiring, insightful content for you, the least you can do is post something other than the all to generic “Great!” or “Good job!” or “I agree!”  Really, that’s all you got?

So go out there and make me proud bloggers, go post some panache-y paragraphs!!!
